A respected otolaryngologist, educator, and leader, he was widely regarded as an exceptional diagnostician and mentor who made everyone feel valued. His legacy lives on through the physicians he trained, the patients he cared for, and the programs he and his wife Simone supported. Avid travelers, antique enthusiasts, and natural hosts, Sam and Simone were always the life of the party.

Mary Lou lived by unwavering faith, love for family, and a spirit of service. A Houston native, she built a successful legal career, becoming a partner at Baker, Brown, Sherman and Parker. She and her husband Steve shared 35 years of marriage, raising two sons, Nicholas and Christopher, whom they exposed to world travel, diverse cultures, and outdoor adventures. Devoted to her church, community, and cherished friends, Mary Lou was a selfless woman whose life was rich in love and compassion.
